How i can improve my weight been diagnosed type 2 diabetes? |
am just about 53 kg. and 5 ft. 3 in. tall Cut back on sugar and fats. Sugars become fat if you don't burn them off. Also, try to exercise more. If you are type 2, chances are you can control your sugar with diet, exercise and maybe some prescriptions. But you have to be careful because you don't want to become insulin dependent. Also, diabetes can lead to other serious health problems if not taken care of. But most people with Type 2 live normal lives. Good luck! Excerise and eat a healthy diet. You are definitely not overweight! Your probably have to rely on medication to manage the disease. So often MDs and DOs fall back on the standard directions for all diabetics. Lose weight and exercise more. You really can't blame them too much, they have to cover their professional backside as a result of fear of lawsuits. Find a good Physicians Assisstant. They can spend the time to talk to you at length. If they don't have the time to talk - find another practice. Reduce your carb intake to 10-15% of your diet. With some of the great stuff on the market now, it's not a great sacrifice. Get a bicycle and USE IT everyday at least 5 miles or 7 to 10 KM. It will make a big difference. If you are prescribed medications, use the original drug first and then switch to a generic and comp[are the glucose levels. Every time your pharmacy / chemist changes medication manufacturers, compare results again. I just went through an experience where the druggist dispensed a metformin from a different manufacturer and for all the good it did it could have been a counterfeit drug. Be careful. Longstridelouie Since the weight doesn't seem to be a part of your problem, Possibly exercise and cutting down on sugars. That is very easily done though it may not sound like it. Look at labels when you buy things. My blood sugar was at 149 and I was given a diet that allowed me 3 full carbs per meal. No saving them up for a great supper! But all labels show the "grams" and there are approximately 17 grams per carb. Be sure to check your blood sugar regularly. 80 - 120 is ideal but if you can stay below 140 that is great! Personally I lost almost 70 pounds following the carb intake allowed and never went hungry. I would also recommend very strongly that you request from your doctor where you can attend a class to learn more. THEY ARE VERY INFORMATIVE. Exercise, drink water, eat green veggies! The important thing with diabetes is movement. So, although cardio exercises are great for improving your heart, they're sometimes a little difficult if you have a lot of weight to lose. I would focus on walking for 15-30 minutes 3-5 times a week, not sitting for longer than 20 minutes at a time, and find ways to stay in movement, even if it's leg lifts while you're watching TV. Good luck to ya! Many Blessings, Lilyth look at the diabetes testimonials on my page. |
