I just found out I am pregnant and I have diabetes...? |
Does anyone have a good meal plan that will help bring my blood sugars in better control. They are consistently in the 200s. I'd really appreciate any advice to make this pregnancy successful! Eating a diet that stresses protein (poultry and fish are best, unless you are a vegetarian and then soy is very good), low glycemic carbohydrates (look up a glycemic index) and good fat (olive oil for cooking, almonds or peanuts for snacking), may help lower your blood sugars during this time. I suggested to a girlfriend, who was having the morning nausea and restless nights to have a small snack before going to bed of one hard-boiled egg, a cracker or cookie, and some nuts, either almonds or peanuts, along with a glass of water. She did, and was a lot perkier, and less nauseous in the mornings of her first trimester. For other basic information about blood sugar imbalances, you may want to look at www.hufa.org. Even though the information does not specifically apply to pregnancy, it is good info for blood sugar imbalances in general. Source(s): www.hufa.org is a website run by Hypoglycemics United to Foster Awareness, a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational corporation. Pegasus 90 is a co-founder and the current president of the organization. Check with your doctor because it may be gestational diabetes. Your doctor will have a good plan, that will work and produce a healthy baby. Good luck. eat more fruits and vegs congratulation. Ask your public health nurse for a meal plan that works for you. I developed diabetes with my four pregnancy and though I should have had insulin I managed well on the diet I was given. As soon as my son was born my blood sugar went back to normal if you have diabetes mel路li路tus the diet still applies. Hope that helps ~A~ please ask your doctor to see a nutritionist my friend just died last year having a baby she went in to a diabetic shock while giving birth.. please do not worry about what people have to say on here and listen to the doctor.. get a meal plan from them and get monitored at scheduled times. |
