What are the altered effects that occur in the endocrine system in diabetes? |
endocrine system- human body Now you've really asked a question that can take a time to answer, but I'll try and keep it short. I am an alternative medicinal therapist and have to go through this type of training so whatever I tell you won't be a load of rubbish, here goes: The endocrine system covers a large area: The pituitary Gland and Hyperthalamus The Thyroid Gland Parathyroid Gland Adrenal (suprarnal)Glands Pancreatic Islets Pineal Gland or body Local Hormones. There are two types of Diabetes type1 & Type 2 Type 2 is the most commonist: The cause is unknown in orthodox medicine It's a disorder of the Pancreatic Islets(islets of Langerhans) To give you a full explanation to your question is impossible here but heres the basics. The function of the Exocrine Pancreas is to produce pancreatic juice containing enzymes that digest carbohydrates, protiens and fats. The Endocrine Pancreas. Distributed throughout the gland are groups of specialised cells called the pancreatic islets (of langerhans) The islets have no ducts so the hormones diffuse directly into the blood. The function of the endocrine pancreas is to secrete the hormones insulin and glucagon, which are principally concerned with control of blood glucose levels. Diabetes 2 is due to the absence of insulin or rarely to impairment of insulin activity causing varying degree of disruption of carbohydrate and fat metabolism. So if you have a problem with one part of this system in time it effects every organ in the body: Raised Blood glucose=glucose uptake and use by body cells is defective. Conversion of glucose to glycogen in the liver and muscles is dimished. There is gluconeogenesis from protien in response to defiency of intracellular glucose The endocrine system works as a whole, if one part fails the rest of the system cannot funtion properly. Results are renal failure, high or low blood pressure, hormonal dysfuntion, blood supply to every organ in the body is affected. Do you want me go on?
