Is it okay to switch over to whole grain bread and pasta with diabetes? |
It is healthier than white right? Absolutely! You shouldn't even consider eating white starches if you're diabetic. This includes white rice, potatoes, etc. Use whole grain pastas if you like pasta. But always remember to use portion control, since even if the carbs are better and less rapidly absorbed than with white starches, they are still eventually used by the body and turn into sugar. Stay away from ALL carbohydrates. Yes it is but not to much of it. I would not eat to much pasta. That is not a good diabetic diet. It's more than just OK. IF you must continue to eat pasta, you should make it actually multi-grain and not just whole grain. Anything that is on the high glycemic index is not very good for you. Eat things that are high in fiber and low in carbs. http://www.diabetesinfoforyou.com... |
