If overweight, I would suggest trying to lose some. Often by losing weight when overweight and type II diabetic, the diabetes will be under control and you won't even have to take a pill anymore.
It is known that gastric bypass surgery sometimes "cures" Type 2 diabetes.
I just read about an Ojibway four herb tea that listed diabetes as one disease it helped also have a lead on an intestinal bacteria you add to making saurerkraut or other cultured veggies, it eats sugar. Decreases craving for sugar.

diet and exercise...type 2 is adult onset and usually, not always, but usually associated with obesity
No alternative therapy as yet but it has been known that patients that have been prescribed with insulin were taken off insulin because their diabetes control was well managed due to diet and exercise, lifestyle change.
What part of the diabetes is giving you the most problems. I know how to deal with High BP, circulation problems, wound healing, Gangrene, cholesterol, and sugar level regulation. I can elaborate further but I would be typing for quite a while so contact me with what you would like to address
