My mother is seeing blood in her eye when bending over- she has diabetes...? |
I canot see it when she bends, but she describes it like this...something is there when sitting normal, something dark or blocking vision, but when she bends over, she sais she's seeing blood. Any ideas? hi, Diabetes is a kind of disorder that can affect multisystems. something dark that blocks vision is described in medical language as SCOTOMA, which means dark spot where the retina will now perceive light. When bend, as the gravity causes pooling of blood in the head(and also eyes), she sees blood. But any way, get an ophthalmic check up done, and monitor her blood sugar levels carefully. ALL THE BEST. I would have this checked by the ER or her regular doctor. Please take the time to get her in to see someone. sounds like she has a scotoma. most scotomas can be cured so you shouldnt worry... you must consult with your opthalmologist. diabetics are prone to a lot of probs. yes, that happened to me. The blood vessels near the back of the eye have poped. It needs to be taken care of by an ey doctor who will refer her to another eye specialist. I put mine off and lost the vision in the eye. I bet she also has high blood pressure as well, right ? seriosly get her to see the eye doctor. This I Do know of. ps the emergency room will not be able to see the problem. it has to be done by an eye doctor. She definitely should go the emergency room to have this checked out. You should go with her & explain everything to the doctor. Don't wait too long. The time to do this is now. |
