My ferritin levels are 406.4 i am male 57years, with type 2 diabetes any connection?

previous medical history, malignant melanoma 4years ago, high blood pressure.

While ferritin levels are elevated in the course of disease, I don't think this is the case with type 2 diabetes, nor could I find anything to support that supposition. Ferritin levels are iron levels in the blood, and yours are high, which could be from a number of factors, including dietary. You can find moer at:

Ferritin levels have little to do with Diabetes. This is due to high levels of iron in the blood. The answer to this is to have monthly blood withdrawn. The withdrawal of blood is done as if you were donating, a full unit at a time. If you can, you may donate two times a month. The call is Hemochromotosis. My wife has this, and used to have blood withdrawn every month. Was told it would take about three years to get her Ferritin levels down to normal. Then she developed anemia, and had to switch to I.V. input of Desferal. This called for four to five days in the hospital every month. Thank God they have developed a pill that you take (three tabs/three times/day) for about fifteen days a month. It's called Desferasirox (Exjade) 125mg. Better than monthly hospital stays. Hope this helps you. Good luck. As an after thought, sometimes this Hemochromtosis is hereditary.
