Has anyone lost a close family member or friend to Type 1, insulin-dependent diabetes, and if so, how many? |
years did they have Type 1 diabetes? my buddy eric died 3.17.04 to type 1 diabetes. he was diagnosed with it in junior high and was 34 when he died, so he had it for about half his life. if i need to elaborate i'm happy to do so. and if you or someone you know has type 1 diabetes, i wish you or them all the best. it's a tough one. MY NEPHEW DIED AT THE AGE 21-HE WAS DIAGNOSED WHEN HE WAS 5. HE STOPPED TAKING CARE OF HIMSELF WHEN HE GOT OUT ON HIS OWN. HE STARTED DRINKING MORE AND MORE AND IT FINALLY KILLED HIM. SOOOO SAD! Yes I lost my 1st cousin to the complications caused by diabetes. She was 48 and had had it since she was 10. I really looked up to her because I took it at 10 too and she really helped me understand what to do. I have a daughter who took it at 11 so we used her a lot to tell us what to expect what would happen over the years and she did we learned that we really have to take care of ourselves. Like I said it really wasn't due to the diabetes but to the complications caused by diabetes if you don't take really good care of yourself. |
