Type 2 diabetes is caused by being overweight. If you maintain a healthy weight, exercise regularly and eat right, your chances of developing Type 2 diabetes are very, very small.
I am betting she has "gestational" diabetes. It will go away when she is no longer pregnant.

So chill.
It depends on if there is diabetes elsewhere in your family and to an extent what your lifestyle is. If you are trim and healthy and your parents or grandparents did not have Diabetes then chances are you won't have it either. My grandmother had type 2 and of 18 grandchildren only two of us have it, my brother and I. I have two sisters who do not have it. While your sister's diabetes is probably gestational, there is a higher chance she will develop type 2 when she is older.
Myself. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, then two and a half years later type 2.
