Why is it that there is the narrowing of blood vessels or capillaries in diabetes?
A diabetic鈥檚 insulin is deficient. Because of this the body cannot process glucose like it should, so it doesn鈥檛 have the energy it needs. Needing that energy, the body turns to fat and burns it for fuel. This increased metabolism of fat (combined with impaired protein utilization) results in arthrosclerosis (plaque building up in the blood vessels) which is where the narrowing of blood vessels comes from. to add to the post above mine....diabetics also tend to suffer from high blood presure too.
