Do you think soft-drinks are a major contribution to the increase of obesity and diabetes?

It amazes me how much sugar is in one can of soda---much more than a box of candy or sometimes even a piece of cake. With Coke and Pepsi being mega-companies it seems to be no wonder that there is so much obesity and diabetes.
BTW, cinnamon and cinnamon suppliments drastically cut sugar cravings. It has helped me, a former candy junkie, a great deal.

Yes, Americans drink 50% of our needed daily calories. Think how many calories you'd save if you had water at lunch and dinner and not a soda or juice.
yes, yes , yes, it a major contributor to the health crisis today
absolutely. people who drink pop in between meals keep their insulin levels raised as well, which probably increases insulin resistance
yes. because when people drink things, they don't really consider it to be a contribution to their caloric intake.
Now they're trying to say the calorie free stuff makes you gain weight, don't believe everything you hear!
Yes! And, don't forget tooth decay!!
It does because I know people who have either completely or almost completely cut out soft drinks from their diets...and as a result they have lost up to 15 lbs....

However there are a lot of reasons contributing to these factors beyond soft-drinks as well....
