Is there a medical condition that could cause a blood Alcohol level, my husband has diabetes?

my husband was sick and at the hospital. they said he was drunk, among other things. we don't have alcohol in the house and he hasn't drank in 20 years. family was with him all day and swears he didn't drink. the hospital said he a high blood alcohol level.

Actually, yes there is. I heard about it from a friend of mine who's a former perimedic. A friend of hers was pulled for having a blood alcohol, yet had not touched a drop. I think it may have something to do with diabetes. I'll have to ask her what the condition is called, as I cannot remember, but it can and does happen. If I find out, I'll repost it here.

Ok, I checked with my friend and she had read about it in a reputable magazine. She said that this condition was caused by a yeast infection in the body and the people in the article was having the same problem you were having, insurance and all. One case was an 8 year old child who had no access to alcohol.

The yeast builds up and ferments into alcohol in the body causing the person to literally HAVE it in the body, when they didn't drink at all. It may be Candida, but my friend wasn't certain as it's been a while since the article. This is a rare condition, but does happen. Source(s): Certfied Nursing Assistant
well,, there is not ..
but he should stop it ..

you are the hope....

the hope you are , and my life is with you ...
the passion you are , and and the happiness with you ..
the first love you are, and the last of my dreams...
return back to me , and shake my clam heart ...
come back and own me by your charming whispers...
oh whom owned the life and the soul mine...
o whom are the happiness of my heart..
and the wise of the mind...
o whom you are the last dream, and the last wishes which i wish ..

the hope you are , and the last love which i search for...
love you ...

I've heard of that. My friend was a diabetic, as I recall, the insulin screws up due to low blood sugar, don't think it's alcohol but another chemical that mimics alcohol. Check with your regular Doctor.
I would think that if there was a condition that they would know about it at the hospital. I know that if someone has diabetes that they can ACT like they are drunk if they are having problems with their blood sugar. Even smell like they might have been drinking, but if they did a blood test, he could be hiding it from you. I'd ask to see the results and talk with the doctor before accusing him though.
Some medications contain alcohol - could that be it?
The alcohol had to come from somewhere and it is not a chemical that the body can produce. Either the family is lying or the hospital is. My money is on the family lying.
