I just found out that I am six weeks pregnant with twins and I have diabetes?

the doctors are pretty sure that it is type 2 diabetes, and I have had it before I was pregnant. I am on two types of insulin, but my sugar is still really high well it gets higher as the day goes on. I have read if you have diabetes and you want to get pregnant that you should have your sugar controlled berfore you get pregnant because of birth deffects. I am scared to death has anyone been through this before? I go see my endocrineologist tomorrow what are some good questions to ask her? Is it normal to take insulin and my sugar still be in thehigh 200s and300s

I have gone through this and my twins will be 17 this month.
You should be seeing a perinatologist for your pregnancy. They are usually located at a hospital and take care of high risk pregnancies.
If you want specifics i will be glad to share.I have posted them here before.

Congrats. Source(s): Diabetes for 20+ years
i really don't know that much about diabetes but i have a friend who's wife just had a baby and she had diabetes and it was crazy out of control. he had to call her hourly to make sure that she was okay. she once had an "episode" and drove 30 minutes out of town and nobody knew where she was. all i can say is take proper precautions to keep yourself as healthy as possible. no matter how crazy your cravings may get be sure to eat the right foods.
Congratulations MOM! Whoa Twins huh!

Yes-I did
I ate 8-10 times a day, small amounts and lived on protein drinks and supplements. A nutritionist helped me.

My fingers hurt all the time, I took my blood three-five times a day.
I had glucose blood work test-four times while pregnant and it was gross-no lies.
Watch your blood pressure.

I ate so well, I lost 42lbs and never had to wear maternity clothes till the last month. I was in bed rest for 4 months and it was worth it.

I was very scared too, now is the time to look in your heart and pray. Give it all to God. He brought these twins to you and you will be a wonderful mother. Do your best and relax....your are blessed. Spend your energy getting ready for those kids, feathering that nest and sleeping.

Q's for the doctor~
Are you getting an Amnio test?
Ask for a referral to a Nutriontionist.
Ask about the insulin and its effects on the babies.(no worries)
Ask about your blood pressure and painkillers during birth.
Ask them- If I were the perfect patient, what would I do?
I was told that one and it worked. I followed it to the letter.
Take a friend with you- Husband is great, but friends listen better.
