My husband's blood sugar was 165 several hours after eating could this mean he has diabetes? |
His mother has diabetes, he is overweight, he is constantly thirsty, and always hungery. Yep.......that's a sure sign. If he is tired a lot and urinates frequently that is also a sign. Need to have a A1c done on him. That will confirm it if he has it. Source(s): Me...........Medical tech yes two hours after eating shouldn't be over 120 he needs to see his doctor diabetes runs my family too Blood Sugar Management http://www.dlife.com/dlife/do/showconten... Diet Guidelines http://www.diabetes911.net/readit/chapte... Not necessarily he has already diabetes, because the criteria for diagnosis of diabetes is more than 200 postprandial, and 120 in fasting, however the blood sugar seems to be a little up than the normal for postprandial (after a meal) sugar and maybe he needs a fasting test for confirm it; and even if it results positive, he need at least one test more for definitively say that he got diabetes There are some clinical conditions that come in a prediabetic status, the most common is the called X metabolic syndrome, that can simulate diabetes and actually most of the people develops diabetes mellitus type 2 after some time. THere is a strong genetical association in D Mellitus type 2, however it hasn't been yet identified the responsible gen, and if sedentary lifestyle, overweight, bad nutrition, etc is added, the risk of develop diabetes is higher. Hope this test would help your husband to change his lifestyle He is a prime candicate. Get him to a doctor right away, Those are all signs of being a diabetic. The always hungry is a sign. The bad news is if you feed that hunger, there is no end to it. I suggest keeping fruit aound. That slows down the hunger. There is enough sugar there to satisfy, but not enough to hurt because fruit is slow digesting. |
