Avg Score 5.8 since diagnosed. Was 17 in apr 06 when GP measured. Is this pre diabetes?

Post diagnosis in April 06 changed diet and exercise routines. Score averages 5.8 since measured every morning and sometimes afternoon evening...but total comes to 5,8. Could this be a pre diabetic condition.

Once you are labelled diabetic you cannot become "un" diabetic...you are merely a diabetic with the condition under control. You have done well to bring your levels dowm so well, keep up the good work. Source(s): Type 2 diabetic
Unfortunately no.You were and still are diabetic. The good news is that you and your physician took the steps necessary to get your blood sugar to acceptable levels, and keep them there.Maintaining control will minimize your chances of running into diabetic complications in the future.Look at diabetes as a wake up call.It just makes you make better choices about food and exercise, which in turn will help you control blood sugar levels.
I agree entirely with Rock Quarry. The diagnosis was made ... and this is not something undertaken lightly. You are still diabetic.

As Rock Quarry has already stated, the diagnosis was made at the correct time, in that the sooner diabetes is diagnosed, the easier it is to prevent/delay complications.

Try to keep your blood sugars as low as they now are.

Best of luck.
Sounds like you have good control if that is your average - I wish I could get that. With me it is through the roof or through the cellar.

I do not know if you have heard the phrase that my Diabetic Nurse uses to work out what is good or bad. "Four's the floor, nine's the sky!" Your 17 was probably just an off day. You might have had an infection or just eaten something wrong. Nothing to worry about. It is when you have highs like that regularly that things need checking and medication reviewing. Well done you for doing so well so far!
Do you mean since diagnosed with diabetes or with something else? I've no doubt that your dr wouldn't have given you a blood meter for no reason, but results of about 5.8 are perfectly normal - maybe you should check back with your dr and/or get a second oppinion to find out what they're up to with you?

Good luck xx
