If your sugar is high in the morning but lowers to a normal range after eating, do you have diabetes?

Morning sugar reading is 165. Two hours after havng breakfast the reading is 120.

What did you eat the night before going to bed?

If you had nothing to eat that was carbohydrate before going to bed and your blood sugar is 165 in the morning, then YES you have diabetes. Even your afternoon reading of 120 is "elevated".
I'm a nurse. It's not really that bad. I would see the doctor anyway for a check up and evaluation.
That sort of reading can be erratic. The best way to test to determine diabetes is for a fasting blood test.....no food other than water for 12 hours. Go to the below link to read about this. Good luck.

Yes, could be. Your liver is pumping glucose into your blood stream during fasting (while your asleep). This could be a sign of a metabollic problem.

Or it could be something else. I think it's called Dawn's Syndrome or Dawn's Disease (because your sugar raises at dawn).

Try eating a high protien snack with a few carbs before you go to bed and see if it helps. (Try half a peanut butter sandwich or half a turkey sandwich or one of those diabetic shakes or diabetic snack bars)

Either way, you should go to the doctor.
If you are not a diagnosed diabetic why are you checking your blood sugar???

Only diabetics have a raised 'fasting' blood sugar - that is before breakfast.

Go and see your doctor
some diabetics have 'dawn syndrome'. maybe some non-diabetics do also.
