Does anyone have any idea why my new Dr. would send me a certified letter, I saw him last week for diabetes? |
I saw this Dr. for the first time last week. He asked me lots of questions and even called me on Tues. to ask who my other Drs were but I haven't gotten back to him. I got a notice in the mail that he sent a certified letter and I don't know why but this freaks me out. Is he firing me as a patient already? What other reasons do Dr.s sent certified letters? If you are the first to diagnose a patient with diabetes, you need to make sure that either you take care of his/her health needs, or refer them to someone who will. Left untreated, Diabetes has a very high complication rate. If your provider could not reach you by phone, then a certified letter is a good legal way of showing that he/she make a good faith effort to tell you about the diagnosis, and either offer further care, or referral to another provider. Some patients are in denial, and do not go back for care until a complication occurs. If the patient, or family, went to see a lawyer, they might assume that a failure to treat lead to the complication. Make sense? What did the letter say ? I guess you'll have to call the office. A certified letter usually means trouble of some kind. Maybe you gave him a check, and it bounced. Maybe he believes you are trying to get a prescription fraudulently. It could be any number of things. The whole point behind a certified letter is that, for whatever reason, he wants to be able to prove that you received it. It is in your best interest to read the letter, it is probably about your blood work that was done for you that needs follow-up. What did the letter say? |
