I am diabetic and I have a lot of trouble staying away from sweets, and I need to know if others with diabetes

have the same problem and if so, what do you do about it because I never craved sweets until my doctor put me on diabetic medication and told me I had diabetes when I only had a 160 one morning. I know that is not good but is more hyperglycemic. Could the medication have made me develop diabetes? Please help. I would like to see those of us with diabetes form a diabetics anonymous group.

I have been diabetic for 15 years and have a very sweet tooth. The advice I have been given by both doctors and diabetic nurses is to binge. If you fancy a bar of chocolate, eat the whole thing in one siting. You sugar levels will go sky high, peak and fall again. If you eat it in little bits, your sugar level rises and stays high. This is were the danger is. Not the sudden peak but the continual high.
First, see another Doctor to get an accurate diagnosis. As to the problem with sweets, you might try switching over to products with artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame. See the information at the below link for information on these types of products.

Seek a second opinion, the normal sugar ranges are 60-120, some people function completely normal at different ranges, i have seen patients with w blood sugar of 50 and be completely comatose, and some have even been at 155 and that is their normal. You need to seek a second opinion.
