What foods are bad when are bad too eat when a person has type 1 Diabetes?

Hi my names stephen i have a friend who has diabetes 1 i was wondering if anybody knew what food you should stay away from besides, candybars, pop or other types of junk foods. If anybody has type 1 diabetes i would really like you input of info on this forum

Go to the American Diabetes Association's homepage at www.diabetes.org.
Many foods turn to sugar once in the body, white bread macaroni....I get very sick if I eat chinese food or too much pasta...I've always been a pasta freak so now I eat Barilla with more protein and fiber....it tastes the same and is sooooo much healthier. Online research is a must for your friend.
You should stay away from junk foods, but you can eat pretty much anything in small amounts.
any food high in carbs is bad for you if your a diabetic. Read your food labels. The lower the carbs the better. Your friend knows how low he can go in this area and how low he shouldn't go to prevent his sugar levels from bottoming out. Fried foods, sugary foods and starchy foods including corn, potato's, bread, sweet rolls are high in starch which convert to carbs. Again read your labels. Look on line for diabetes programs which have booklets for eating in restraunts, they sure help me. The book includes KFC, McDonald's and Dominoes pizza. I hope this helps.
Depending on their insulin regimen, most type 1 diabetics can eat anything and adjust their insulin to match their carb intake. That being said, candy bars, pop, junk food, etc. are not good for diabetics just as they are not good for someone with a fully functional pancreas.
