What is the oldest living age of a person with type 1 Diabetes?

I'm 31 yers old and have had type 1 diabetes for a long time - I'm curious of the oldest age a person has lived to with type 1 diabetes

90 year old Gladys C. Lester Dull is the oldest living type 1 to date. She has been living with type 1 for 83 years. She was diagnosed in 1924, only 3 years after the discovery of insulin.
If the blood glucose is well controlled they can live well into old age. Generally diabetic control is much better than it was even 20 years ago and the life expectancy of a type 1 diabetic is increasing all the time.
PS My best friend is type 1 and she's almost 50 (although she'll kill me for telling lol)
I know someone that is 88.
my grandfather has type 1 diabetes and he's 99 year old...my dad also has it and he is 58 years old
They have actually renamed some DM. Years ago they called it juvenile diabetes. That type is actually an auto immune disease and the life expectancy is lower than in a person who develops the disease later in life. Juvenile DM is now called IDDM while type 2 or NIDDM is a disease caused by poor eating habits. What has happened in the last 10 years or so is that type 2 DM patients who use insulin are also called IDDM, so it gets complicated.

You can usually assume that a DM patient will probably begin to have some sort of complications within 20years. If they are well controlled then the major complications won't occur until later than that. If they do not control their blood levels they could occur earlier. A person who was diagnosed early as a child even though they have the more severe form of the disease will do well if they can control their glucose levels. Look at Mary Tyler Moore. She is in her seventies and has had the disease since childhood. Just take good care of yourself.
I am almost sure there's a couple of twins over 80 years old that are still survivors.
