Can you get diabetes later on in life?? Im 20 ...ive been suffering from low blood pressure for a little while |
now....but nothing to serious until the other day at the pool...i was wondering can you get it later on in life? hey my name is alejandra and iam diabetic type I, from experience iam telling you that you can get diabetes no matter how old you are, and especially if you having problems with your sugar levels, just to make sure you should go and see ur doctor or go to a lab and get tested for any problems in your metabolism.. good luck Yes you can get diabetes later in life. There are two common ways one is decreased insulin production from the pancreas and second insulin resistance which means your cells aren't able to use the insulin you make. Your doctor should be able to tell which when or if you get it. Diabetes can definitely occur at any time in life. Low blood pressure,by itself, does not indicate Diabetes. There are many factors that can contribute to low BP. It can range from thyroid to heart disorders, and many in between. Figuring out the problem is the first step. Have a checkup with your doctor and see what your glucose level is. The doc can also perform an A1C glucose test to see what your glucose level has been for a prolonged time frame. Depending on the results, your doctor may prescribe a pill to take care of the problem, maybe insulin injections, maybe simply a change in diet. If blood pressure alone is the problem, the doctor will be able to correct that over time as well after testing. The main idea here is to find out what the problem is as soon as possible, and make the adjustments to correct the problem. Take your BP at home regularly to get an idea of what range you normally stay in most of the time. Write these down. If you are getting dizzy, passing out, or have other symptoms that are abnormal, do not hesitate to inform your doctor of these right away! Good luck. Joe Type 2 diabetes: Type 2 diabetes is believed to have a strong genetic link, meaning that it tends to run in families. Several genes are being studied that may be related to the cause of type 2 diabetes. Risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes include the following: High blood pressure High blood triglyceride (fat) levels Gestational diabetes or giving birth to a baby weighing more than 9 pounds High-fat diet High alcohol intake Sedentary lifestyle Obesity or being overweight Ethnicity: Certain groups, such as African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Japanese Americans, have a greater risk of developing type 2 diabetes than non-Hispanic whites. Aging: Increasing age is a significant risk factor for type 2 diabetes. Risk begins to rise significantly at about age 45 years, and rises considerably after age 65 years. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/diabetes/... sure can i developed it at age 55, i'm not fat, i do some exercise like walking a mile or dalily, Yes you can.
