Diabetes and Cinnamon??

Does it matter if you are Type I or Type II ?? Is it good for both?

This is the latest thing that has come out. Cinnamon lowers your blood sugar. But, you have asked the right question. I haven't read anything yet about type 1 and cinnamon. But as a type 2, you had better believe I won't take cinammon alone. I will keep taking my meds and if cinammon helps then great, if not then I have added a little taste to my cereal and stuff. I just don't trust all this stuff about natural stuff helping. And I won't put all my trust in it. Hey, try it, if it works then you may not have to use as much medicine but if it doesn't work for you, please don't be disappointed.
If you are looking to improve or lessen your insulin dosage, you might want to check out the Macrobiotic Diet. I've been on it for three years and I've lost over 56 pounds, and dropped my insulin usage to less than half of what I was taking.

Cinnamon does in fact help both types of diabetics, though it really doesn't make a huge contribution to either type.

A ketogenic diet will help you more than cinnamon. Cinnamon is thought to work because it helps to slow the metabolism of sugar and "space out" the sugar surge in you blood level.

The early onset type1 DM is an autoimmune disease. Unfortunately even a ketogenic diet will not help that too much, but it will slow the sugar surge and lower the need for insulin.

Now in type2 DM, eating a low sugar low carb diet will do wonders. And yes cinnamon has been thought to help slow any sugar metabolism.

But honestly, simply taking cinnamon without watching your sugar intake or using insulin if it is necessary, will do little for you. Think of cinnamon as a supplement not a treatment. And it is definitely not a cure at all.
