Does eating to many sweets cause Diabetes? |
My mom always tell me this and I want to see if it's true. No, it's not true. When my mom became diabetic in the 60s, I bought into that same nonsense that her doctor told her. I avoided sweets ever since. I became diabetic four years ago anyway. It has more to do with fat than anything else. Read more here: http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/type... Source(s): Me鈥?Mr. Peachy庐 Chronic large ingestions of sugar can lead to diabetes (this takes years of large ingestions of sugar). If you still listening to your mom your probably ok for now, although your teeth probably hate you. There are many ways in which diabetes can form; one of which is over production of insulin It's as if the body only has so much insulin and once it's gone it's gone. And in modern america's diet, breads, sodas, rice, snacks, deplete that insulin much more quickly than it used to. So yes, but it doesn't just mean avoiding sugary snacks: white bread, bread, anything that quickly converts to high sugar will deplete your ability to produce insulin. No. Simply not true. Eating too much sugar does NOT cause diabetes. Overproduction of insulin leading to beta cell death? Nope. That's Type 1 diabetes, and it's an autoimmune response. Type 2? Nope. Under production of insulin is not Type 2. Now, that being said, if you are pre-disposed, e.g. genetics, to have diabetes, eating too much sugar may uncover a weakened insulin response. Regardless, the sugar intake was NOT the cause. Mom is right on having you cut the sugar, but it doesn't "cause" diabetes. What it causes is overweight, which can lead to diabetes. I don't know what "too many sweets" adds up to for you, but I wouldn't be living on candy and cake. Occasionally, if your family history has diabetes, the sugar shock could give you diabetic symptoms. Ask your Mom if there's a history of diabetes in your family - she may have a right for concern. In the meantime, your Mom cares about you and is trying to keep you from becoming sick or obese. Good luck to the both of you! No sugar alone does not cause Diabetes if eating sugar or anyhting was the cause of Diabetes then 99.9% of the world's population would have Diabetes. Also if a Diabetic person't going into a Diabetic shock then why does someone need to give them something sweet? |
