One eye clear and one eye blurry 3 weeks after lasiks and not related to dry eye.?

I'm looking for reassurance that this is normal. I can function alright but am disappointed to not be seeing 20/20. Anyone heard of this issue or can anyone speak intelligently about it?

To believe that 20/20 was your goal and that the technician (Doctor) told you it was a 100% out come is a little hard to understand.

Although Lasik is a rather routine surgery now, it hardly attains 20/20 100% of the time or even a great deal of the time. Often glasses for reading or for long range vision are required depending on condition of your eyes.

You don't relate your visual acuity before the procedure. You don't relate any astigmatism. If you had very poor eyesight (-7.5) before the surgery a 20/20 outcome wouldn't be a very reasonable expectation.

We know that you waited a long time for the advancement in the techniques with the hope of not having to use glasses.

Unfortunately there are times that the outcome doesn't meet the expectation of the patient. This usually happens because the outcome expectation hasn't been completely disclosed and talked about with the technician before the procedure. if you did so did the technician assure you of a 20/20 outcome?

Have you been back to your one week follow-up appointment? How did the flaps look? Were there any wavy areas in the flaps? Talk with the technician and have them carefully view the flap(s) and make sure they are healing properly. Make sure to use your eye drops often, in fact, more often than you think necessary.

Additional "tune-up" procedures are not unheard of and are regularly part of the original procedure's cost.

Everyone heals differently and so do our eyes, sometimes one eye can heal quicker than the other just like dry eye can affect one eye more than the other. The complete healing period after lasik is 3 months, During this time period you will have good days and bad days. If at 3 months your vision is not where it should be then you should see your doc about a possible need for enhancement or other treatment to improve your vision. (This is assuming you did not have mono vision, where one eye is made for near and the other for distance so you dont need reading glasses this surgery is only for people 40 and over) in this case healing takes a bit longer for your eyes to retrain your brain).
