Dry eyes red contact lenses?

i am wearing acuvue 2 right now
im gradually increasing my time that i wear my lenses
i went 3, 4,5,6,6,6 hrs
while wearing them for all the hours, my eyes were really dry so i used the re-wetting drops for contacts, blink, and they work really well
i have to drop them every 1ish-2ish hours
my eyes are fine after that...but
when im taking them off, i have a red really thin outline of my pupil (not all the way) and a few red veins
my eyes feel dryer than ever so i have to use another drop
and then my eyes are fine, but the outline and the veins are still there
is there a problem w/ my eyes?
my eye dr. said that because my eyes were sensitive and i have allergies were making my eyes dry so they turn red
am i just the person that cant make enough tears? am i not suited for contacts?

Have you looked into being evaluated and/or treated for Dry Eyes? Many CL wearers experience problems due to Dry Eyes which is a manageable condition.
There are other lenses with similar parameters that are much better suited for use in patients who experience redness and dryness. Call your doctor's office and let him/her know that you'd like to try another brand of contacts that are better for patients with dry eyes. You should not have an additional fee if you make this request while still in the fitting phase. If he/she won't take your request seriously, its time to look for a new provider who is interested in eye health, not just getting you out of his office in a pair of contacts.

If you have eyes like that then i suggest going back to the glasses and wear contacts on only formal wear where you absolutely want&need to wear it.

I had the same issue, but I wear acuvue oasis and I'm fine now. It depends on what you do - if you spend hours reading or on the computer, it'll happen. I'd talk to you doctor about it, maybe it's better to stick with glasses. Maybe you just need another brand.

What solution do you use? That can really affect your contacts too - but don't switch solutions until you switch your contacts.

if your eye dr doesn't take your concerns seriously and tell you whether contacts are suitable for you or not go see another dr. They are the ones who are qualified to tell you whether the contacts are damaging your eyes or not. Sight is too important to risk. Get it checked out again and try to tie them down to a real answer don't let them 'hedge it'.

I tried wearing contacts too. I couldn't keep them in for 6 hours you have me beat there. I didnt get the red lines but I used the drops way too much. ( I felt ) I too have allergies and I can only wear the contacts for several hours. I have just accepted that I can't wear contacts for a long period of time... I tried pro clears I think that's what they are called. good luck.

Sounds like corneal hypoxia. Read the following site for more info;
