Why can laser eye surgery lead to (cause) dry eyes? |
does it decrease tear production? effect the drainage? What is the link between dry eyes and laser eye surgery? and why? Laser eye surgery disturbs or burns corneal nerves which are sensory,so the sensory message to the brain is less, therefore ,the lacrimal glands response is less, thence tearing is less and you get dry eye. Intresting. I never heard about this, I have heard tho that Laser Eye Surgery can cause blindness in the future. I think that your explination is probably. Also I think they cut your eye and it takes a while to heal, this could also cause it, but I am not sure. It has something to do with the drainage of the tears, they drain too fast. You can go to the doctor and he can put "plugs" into the tear glands and fix the problem. as with anything there are potential complications with the procedure. this site has good info on risks/complications/costs/etc. |
