What's a good eye drop brand for dry eyes?

What's a good eye drop brand for dry eyes?

Visine TEARS are great. If you are not having any other problems besides dryness do not use the Visine "get the red out"- That has medication in it that constricts blood vessels, and constricting any blood vessels over the course of time does damage..

Systane or Optive are great for dryness/irritation

Zaditor (over the counter) is great for allergies and itching

A good RX drop for itching/redness/puffyness/dryness is Predforte- But it has a mild steroid in it and your doctor must presribe it for you.

Good Luck

try visine, they've got lots of different types for different eye problems, including dry eyes.

I use Visene Bbecause it takes the sting and itchyness out
A good friend if mine has the Acuvue Oasis
They are contacts though and i tried them
MAJOR AWESOME
Hope it helps or ask a pharmasist

SYSTANE IS AWESOME BUT DONT USE IT WITH YOUR CONTACTS IN IF YOU WEAR CONTACTS GET AN EYEDROP CALLED BLINK. ITS AN AWESOME REWETTING DROP FOR YOUR EYES WHILE WEARNING CONTACTS

Renu is good and it works well if you have contacts too

It's sort of relative to why the eyes are dry.

The tear film is complex. Basically it has 3 components. The mucin or mucoid component lays against the corneal epithelium and acts as a lubricant.

The water component or saline component contains many different substances including lysozyme which is antibacterial, but also has antibodies, anti-stuff in the air like pollens,

and a third layer on top, which is oily. If you pull your eyelid down (lower one) and look at the edge, you'll see about 10-20 little white openings. These are the Meibomian gland openings where the oil part comes from.

The oil acts to help prevent or slow down evaporation of the water portion of the tears.

If you are missing one, or a mixture of any of those basic components, you'll have dry eye symptoms. These include burning, stinging, tearing too much, ache, stuff like that.

There are a number of different types of eye drops or artificial tears. Some are basic to offset tears that are too acidic. Some are acidic to offset basic tears (acid/base equilibrium). Some have antihistamines for those who have reactions to antigens or allergies. Some are really low in salt for people who's tears are too 'thick' or don't have enough salt. Some are salty to offset those who have too much of the water component. Some have an oily structure which helps prevent evaporation.

Pick a tear. Any tear drop. Try it. If your eye's go....THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! you've found the right one for YOU.

Then in a week or two, your hormones will change, and it won't work quite right.. and you'll have to find another one for those times when hormones are doing that.. again....

Most of the time you won't find any tear or artificial tear that is anywhere near as good as you own. And most people put in the tears, then squeeze them out on their face and wipe that off with a kleenex and never really get the benefit of the artificial tear at all...
