I have a bag of dried black eyed peas and wonder if anyone has a good recipe.? |
I usually use google, but I get overwhelmed with so many web sites and recipes that I just can't figure out which one to use. This is close to my recipe: My absolute favorite is Hoppin' John. I don't have the recipe handy, but it's on epicurious.com. It's veggies and sausage, the peas, and broth and all served over rice. We normally have it on New Year's, but I just made it last week again, it's so simple and good. just clean and rinse them, cook them in water with hamhocks, or bacon, onions , garlic , chopped celery and chopped carrots-yummy yummy yummy!!! Serve with cornbread or hush puppies, and of course some Louisiana hot sauce just cook them with a slice of chopped bacon, or smoked sausage, if you don't have that, just use salt. serve them over rice. i made them monday. I cook mine with some chopped onion, salt, and a touch of curry. If you're a curry fan, add more! I love blacked eyed peas! |
