What is the best contact lens brand for dry eyes?

experiences and sources! thanxs

Acuvue Oasys made by Vistakon
or
Focus Night & Day made by CibaVision

AV Oasys will be a quicker more comfortable fit. Foucs N&D take a while to get used to but are also good for dry eyes.

i would start with acuvue oasys. there is a new contact out called biofinity which is also a good lens. these are TYPICALLY good lenses for dry eyes...however...they dont work with everyone. these lenses are made out of silicone hydragel which are very oxygen permeable and hydrating to the eye (in most people). however, some people say these lenses dry their eyes out more than the older technology material lenses. i, for example, have some kind of allergy to the si hy lenses, so i wear proclear lenses.

if you have dryness issues, you need to think about the solution you are using as well. clear care is excellent used in conjunction with optifree. (clear care is a hydrogen peroxide solution in which you have to soak your lenses for six hours before you put them in. it gives your lenses a good deep cleaning and gets rid of deposits that build up on your lenses. i would use this 2-3 times a week, and the other days use optifree. optifree is an all in one saline solution that you can put directly in your eyes). i would also recommend using rewetting drops. if you use optifree, use their brand of rewetting drops. **i would stay away from renu solution if you go into the silicone hydragel contact lens. it dries them out more than any other solution. when you are fit with the contacts, i would ask them what type of material the lens is made out of, and then you will know. either way, the optifree and clear care work great on any type of lens out.

sometimes you just have to try out contacts until you have found the one that dries out the least, which all office visits are covered when you pay the fitting fee for the contacts, because like i said, these usually work, but not on everyone. when you go to the doctor, he will recommend a lens that he think will work best for your situation.

good luck
