I want to dry out my fresh black eyed peas grown from my garden. In a ziplock bag or where?

Lay them out and let them dry in the hulls. when they are dry shell them out and store them how ever you want. They will probably not dry well in a bag an old window screen works well to let air circulate around them to dry. In a zip lock the moister is still trapped in the bag.

Usually they are left to dry on the plant. Most folks take a few pickings for fresh peas then let some dry because the plant will stop producing once the pods start to dry. If the pea seed is full size when you pick you can probably still dry them by spreading them out on a clean dry surface. Don't put them in a plastic bag. They will mold and spoil for sure. You can also blanch and freeze them.

Hi,

Your best plan is to lay the seeds out on a dry clean towel. Let the peas dry normally and not in direct sun.

After about a week move the seeds to a zip lock bag with a paper towel inside and there it will reside until it is needed.

Hope that helps....for more information about plants, gardens, and nature visit my website at www.dagardenguy.com

If you want them dried, they should be left to dry on the plant.
