What causes dry eyes?

i just want to know what causes dry eyes. i'm interested in wearing contact lenses, but the optometrist said that i have dry eyes and some irritation around it, so i have to use systane and Refresh PM at night, but i haven't been using it lately b/c sometimes i forget and that i have so many errands to do and school that i don't have time to put it on. also with the causes, what can i do to prevent dry eyes other than using those products? or any other recommendations on products.

The typical reason for this problem is potassium and general mineral deficiencies. Lick the top of your shoulder and see if you taste salt. If you don't, it is an indication you are deficient in salt and most likely electrolytes.

You need to make sure you are getting enough water in your body as well as the electrolytes. Air dried sea salt is one of the best sources for electrolytes. Throw out that Morton Table Salt junk and get real salt that is good for you. That junk has sugar (dextrose), heavy metal aluminum, etc. in it and sodium chloride that has been heated to over 1,100 degrees with all the minerals removed. Pure junk.

The average person needs water at the following rate:

Take your total body weight and divide by 2. That number is the amount of water in ounces that you need to drink each and everyday. Along with that, you should consume 1/4 teaspoon of "air dried sea salt" in conjunction with each quart of water you drink. This puts the electrolytes in your body that will give you proper hydration. If you drink ANY diuretic drinks like, sodas, coffee, tea, alcohol, commercially prepared fruit drinks, energy drinks, etc., these all dehydrate you and you will need to add more water to the total to compensate for the water loss due to these diuretic drinks. Take the total ounces of the diuretic drinks and multiply by 1.5 and add that total to the original total to come up with the proper amount of water you need to drink each day.

Bananas and some other foods have lots of potassium that will help.

good luck to you
