Does anyone have dry eye? What drops are best? it depends on the cause of the dry eye. if the dryness is from lack of tear production, then Rx-only "restasis" or OTC "optive" and "systane" are my favorites. if the cause of the dryness is improper tear film consistency (i.e. too oily or not oily enough, etc etc) then the solution is fix the underlying cause of the inconsistency. some common causes of tear film problems are meibomian gland dysfunction, contact lens abuse and blepharitis. would need an eye exam and some instruction on how to solve the individual problem. oral omega 3 fatty acids supplements are also a good and popular way to combat dry eye... You should use Systane drops during the day and GenTeal eye ointment at bedtime. You do need to get this checked out by your eye doc though to be sure something else isn't going on. |
