Why can't we reuse eye lubricant capsules for dry eyes?

There is a warning that says to not reuse and discard after opening the capsule. However, I barely use half before I have to discard so I feel like this is a big waste. Why can't I use half in the morning and the other half in the afternoon for my dry eyes?

3 reasons:

1. The company can only guarantee the sterility of the capsule when it is unopened. The restriction may be from the lawyers.

2. It does become contaminated when opened

3. From personal experience, after my Lasik surgery, I used a lot of drops. When following the instructions and only using new capsules, I reduced the redness and irritation in my eyes. When I used half at night and half in the morning - my eyes didn't feel as good in the morning. Source(s): Experience after my Lasik surgery
becuase bacteria that acumulates between morining and night can make you go blind

because you open yourself up to a nasty infection the eye is normally sterile and by reusing the capsule you risk contaminating your eye whith god knows what nasty bug happens to be there
me nurse paramedic
because the bacteria from you eye that accumulates overnight can get back into the capsule when you release the suction, and then you'll put it back into your eye and by then it's multiplied ten fold.
