What is the best medication for dry eye? |
I have severe dry eyes... and no product seems to work on me. I use genteal gel...and refresh endura but they're not working anymore... Try Systane Free as needed....your eye doctor may also want to prescribe "Restasis" which might help in tear production. That one takes about a month to work, so don't judge it right off the bat. If you use any artificial tear, make sure they are preservative free. Visine and Clear Eyes do a great job getting their name out, but they aren't the best for your eyes--their preservatives can actually make your eyes more uncomfortable. You might also consider punctal plugs or punctal cautery. Either of those procedures plug your tear canal--which forces your tears to stick around longer. Source(s): Optometrist Eye Drops try using visine or clear eyes-they both make a solution for dry eyes. i have terrible allergies and use the visine made for allergies and it works great!! i've attached some links to help you out.... http://www.visineeyes.info/ http://www.cleareyes.com/products.asp?br... i work in trauma icu allergy sufferer Hard to follow an eye doctor`s suggestion, but Visine has a product made specifically for dry eyes, works well. It`s called, Visine-advanced relief. THIS WILL HURT REALLY BAD...BUT IF ITS THAT BAD, YOU WON'T MIND A LIL PAIN.....SOAK A WHOLE LEMON IN WATER (8 OZ.) LEAVE THEM IN THERE OVER NIGHT, SO THAT THE WATER GETS THE NUTRIENTS OF THE LEMON. THE NEXT MORNING....HAVE SOMEONE POUR THE LEMON WATER ON YOUR EYES, MAKE SURE YOUR EYES STAY VERY OPEN SO THEY SOAK IN THE NUTRIENTS. THIS IS A HOME MADE METHOD, AND I USE IT ON ALL MY PATIENTS WHEN THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WORKS VERY WELL. IT WILL STING A LIL...BUT IT KEEPS YOUR EYES FREST FOR UP TO A MONTH. |
