Why do I sometimes wake up with one eye being very dry and very painful?? |
it feels dry, painful...whether or not my eye is open or closed and takes several hours to feel normal HEY HONEY, I am sitting here at 6 am again, my right eye is tearing like nuts, like the inside of the lid has something on it - sandpaper perhaps? I wear contacts, and I didn't scratch my eye taking them out. And swollen. I get this stuff this time of year. I am in Connecticut, and the pollen is awful this year. you can literally see it dripping from the trees. In any case, time is the only thing I can tell you. Coupla hours. When I am really tired, though, my husband tells me my eyes are partially open, so when I turn over, I may rub on the pillow or something. Fellow sufferrer! Put a nice warm compress on it for now. Because your cats been licking it in the night It's possible that you slept with your eye open and that that is the cause. Dryness of the eye is sometimes common to older age. If this is you, buy some lubricating drops. If it comes and goes, It's probably an eye allergy. If so, get some eye drops that contain an antiallergen, i.e. Naphcon A. |
