Chronic Dry eyes! Does anyone know about the dry eyes implants? |
I have chronic dry eyes, And just two months ago I went to the health food store and got fish oil, flaxseed oil, olive oil, and borage oils all in one. I was so amazed on how this product had helped me with the suffering of dry eyes 90% I recently pick a temporay job working outdoors, Im aware of the wind so I decided to prepare myself before i started this job, I have my sunglasses my eye drops and faithfully takes my olis before i leave in the morning. Well I realize that it doesn't help. My eyes burn, gritty, I took my glasses off and the sun bare down on my eyes so hard that I instantly got a headace and felt so nausea. I feel so so helpless and I feel like Im suffering "I hate this feeling" When I come home my eyes seems to be ok just a little. Im interested in the implants is it safe. Im a scaredy cat and afraid to have the operation. but Im tire of suffering. I know dry eyes unforunately never goes way. But in suggestions would help Please. Thank You. By implants, are you talking about punctal plugs? If that's what you mean, I've had them in both eyes, upper and lower lids. When the opthalmologist put them in, it stung just a little bit. They didn't help me because my problem was caused by a medication I was taking, so as soon as I stopped taking the medication, my eyes got better. If your eye doctor recommends the punctal plugs, that is almost the last resort. The plugs do fall out after a period of time, and then you can have your punctals lasered close. A good eye drop for dry eyes is Restasis, which needs a prescription, or Systane which you can buy over the counter. Good luck. Hope this helps. My mother has dry eyes. The opthamologist inserted plugs into the tear drain ducts in her eyes. They can be removed with no problems if they don't help. What they do is prevent your tears from draining from your eyes therefore keeping them lubricated. I hope this is what you are talking about and I hope they work. Good luck. |
