Dry eyes diagnosis - has anybody out there found a "cure"? Or solution?

I am a 51-year-old female going through the beginning stages of menopause. Dry eyes (and the accompanying problems associated with same) have been about the most problematic/uncomforttable symptoms for me. I am particularly interested in natural, non-pharmaceutical solutions.

In the eye lubricant range, Alcons SYSTANE is a tear thickener. It contains guar which stabilises your tear film to alleviate the discomfort of dry eyes. It is available without chemical preservatives and has no pharmaceutically active ingredients.

When inserted, after a minute or two, your eyes will feel soothed & "cushioned" from your lids.
You can go to your local pharmacy and find natural eye drops (which is normal saline = sterile water) and use them as directed. When possible a cold cloth over the eyes while keeping the eyes shut will help alleviate some of the discomfort.

Punctal plugs may also be a solution. They are very unobtrusive and you cannot feel them. Check with an Opthamologist.
There are no cures for dry eyes. You have treatments to help relieve the symptoms, but they are temporary if you stop them. Artificial tears is almost always involved in the treatment plan. You can also use lubricating ointments at night. Punctal plugs help a lot of people by plugging the drain in your eyelid and keeping the tears on the eyes longer. Also topical steroids and restasis have helped
