Dry eyes? any help?

For the past week my eyes have been very dry, itchy, and watery (if thats possible to be both dry and watery) I have never had allergies before and was wondering if there were any other causes? For some reason I cannot seem to get eye drops into my eyes either.

Sounds strange, but sometimes when eyes are dry, our body tries to overcompensate by producing excess tears - even if they do not work to mosturize the eyes. I was going to suggest drops - liquid gel works great for really dry eyes. A prescription drop that works wonders is Restasis. You could also try benadrill - or another antihistamine medicine. That will treat all allergy type symptoms, including eyes - be careful though, a side effect is drowsingess. Or just got to the doctor.

Are you allergic to any foods you ate recently? Are there new enviornmental issues - pets, purfumes, etc.? Have you been outside a lot? Extreme weather or heat blowing on your eyes directly from a car heater can really dry out eyes. Or if you are spending too much time on the computer w/o taking a break that can wreak havoc on your eyes -- your blink rate decreases when on the computer, really drying out your eyes. Take a break at least once an hour.

Best of luck!
they have special drops for that.
