Chronic Dry eyes!?

I was told by a vision doctor that I have chronic dry eyes, An all the help that he gave me was special eye drops and at night use pm refresh for eyes, which is a mixture of petroleum jelly ect. It helps only on a temporary basic. I was told that chronic dry eyes happens to the elderly and women approching menopause, He states that there is no cure for this condition. I feel miserable at times Im constantly rubbing my eyes and can't enjoy really being outside because of the wind or around heated areas because of the heat. I just want this to go away. please help if you have any remedies or if pray for me, Im only 35. signed miserable.

The fat found in fish oil DHA is essential for properly lubricating the eye, and is in fact what the eye ball is made of (30 percent by weight). Deficiencies of this fat, which are very common, can cause dry eyes. I would also take blueberry concentrate, or eat fresh organic blueberries daily, to help the eye cope with oxidation and other stressors.
drink more water, and blink more. that is about all you can do besides use eye drops.
it is a TERRIBLE feeling , isn't it?

this can be caused by spending a lot of time at the computer monitor.

Antihistamines (OTC meds for allergies) make it worse.

There is a medicine called Restasis that says it can help.

i don't know if it really helps.

i use artificial tears several times a day when it is bad.
I have chronic dry eyes and had little silicone implants placed inside my tear ducts (by a wonderful and very competent Ophthalmologist) who diagnosed the problem.

If you can -- check into that.
There is a drug available for chronic dry eyes called Restasis. It contains a drug called cyclosporine, which is normally used to suppress the immune system. Some people experience chronic dry eyes due to an autoimmune condition, like Sjogren's syndrome. Restasis will help control the symptoms of that.

Do you wear contacts? Try switching brands and changing to a sensitive eyes solution.

Drink more water and avoid alcohol.

You may have allergies. Try an OTC allergy medication called Claritin (loratidine). It is an anti-histamine like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) but it does not make you drowsy (it doesn't reach the brain). Claritin takes a while to work, so try it for at least 2 weeks. It is not particularly strong, so you might try a prescription drug called Allegra (fexofenadine).
