Are dry eyes normal after 10 months of Lasik Surgery? |
I had Lasik 10 months ago. I suffered from dry eyes the moment I got the surgery I had to put Systane in my eyes 10 times a day. However suddenly I have started to have an increase in dry eyes! I saw the doctor and he took Systane away and gave me new drops "Optive", "Restasis", and Refresh PM. Couple of days have gone by but I am still suffering. Do you guys recommend tear duct plugs? Its my last option. Tear duct plugs have worked good for me, They are kind of expensive, but they do help! I am 5 months post-LASIK. I have been on every single drop on the market. The doctor put plugs in and it made my eyes flood up and I loved it. So...for about 6 weeks, I have not had dry eyes. Now...they are dry again and I don't know what to do. I wish I never got LASIK. It is the biggest mistake of my life. Too bad I don't have a better answer. The only thing I can tell you is that I was told by all of the docs (I sought 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinions) that this will get better over time. You should try the plugs. For the brief time they worked, they made me happy. p.s. I had to go on anti-depressants temporarily because I got so upset over my dry eye. The suffering you are going thru is very real and something only other dry eye people can understand. So, if you are feeling down get on some Prozac until your situation resolves. I am going thru the same thing. |
