Why do i have dry eyes with my contacts? |
i started wearing contacts 4 days ago.i still have dry eyes, especially at the 8th hour of wearing them.. is it gonig to end when i am used to them or is it gonna be always like this? i feel like theres no water in my eyes:( When I first started wearing my contacts my doctor suggested that i wear them for four hours for the first two days then six hours the next two and then try wearing them from morning till night. That helped for me so take a break for one day then try that rotation. It feels like that because you have something over your eyes that is not allowing them to "breath". It is like wearing a rubber glove on your hand for a long time. If the problem persists then I would go back to the doctor. Don't get frustrated. The doctor will try a new brand for you. Contacts are trial and error. So stick with it. There are drops out there that can help. But you shouldn't have to use them if you are young. They have alot of contacts out there that are new and allow your eyes to breath. Ask your doctor. Source(s): Experiance! They have special eyedrops for contacts. Also, did they not do a fitting first? You wear them, and if they don't work, they switch brands and types until they find the kind right for you, then sell you a box of them. It is always like that honey. You will get a little more used to it... but it's a foreign object in the eye-not natural. Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot you can do about it, but the longer you wear them the more used to it you will get. But I have been wearing them for about a year now and I still start drying out around the 8th hour - some Opti-free drops and I can usually squeeze out a couple more hours. After that, I have to switch to my back-up glasses, which hopefully you also have. Your eyes have to breathe once in a while - they get to a point where they just simply can't tolerate the contacts any more and you need to give your eyes a break. Don't get discouraged - you'll fall into a routine and you'll be fine. :) Did the doctor tell you that you should start with 3 hours the first day and then take them out. You then double the amount of time you wear them until you are wearing them all day. Also, there are many different types of contacts, so if you are uncomfortable with the ones you have now, contact your doctor and have him try different ones. You may want to use rewetting drops throughout the day, but if this is really bothering you, it wouldn't hurt to consult your eye doctor. Make an appointment for the time of day when your lenses start bothering you. He/she should double-check that the lenses are fitting you properly and may even consider switching to a different brand of contacts. |
