What is the cause for really painful dry eyes.Drops dont work and makes them worst.?


I am asking for a cause.Allergys?

You could have blocked tear ducts. Your tear ducts aren't just for crying. They slowly release tears to keep the eye moist. If it is blocked you may require surgery to open it. See a doctor.
First I would check an Eye Doctor this is something that needs looking into. Also so medications could cause this but still get checked. Good luck.
Dry eyes are the result of a faulty mechanism whereby the tear ducts do not produce enough lubrication to keep the eyes moist.
The symptoms include itching and burning. Vitamin A will help - but buy a formulation made specifically to restore eye health, and contains eye-protecting lutein and zeaxanthin.

I had them really bad and wore special contacts to help. The eye drops the doctor gave me helped. You may want to call and see if doctor will give you a different kind..Mine were caused by allergies and lack of the right kind of fats in my diet. As one person already said evening primrose may help (but I would suggest taking one every other evening) or make sure you eat a couple of servings of fish or nuts each week..Something in the omega 3 and omega 6 fats lubricates the eyes. I added a little salmon to my diet and my eyes got a lot better (these are essential fats your body doesn't make)..This was the cause of my dry eyes..hope it helps..I know it can be bothersome.
My eye doctor developed a procedure for dry eyes where a collagen plug is inserted into the lower lids. You can do a web search on "collagen eye plugs" and read about this. It is very safe and simple and my understanding is that you will have relief within 10 minutes of the plugs being inserted. If this is something you want to try for your condition, find an eye doctor that does this procedure.
