Do i have an eating disorder? if so what is it and what should i do?

I'm 15, 5'6 and weigh around 108lbs. i think i'm a but underweight. over the past 1 week i cannot eat properly. even if i'm hungry. at the dinner table with my family i feel nervous while looking at the food thinking i might not be able to eat it and become thinner and thinner. when i get this feeling i just can't eat. i try to swallow things down my throat but as soon as i put food in my mouth i feel like throwing up. although when this happens i can eat a bit of liquid food and fruits. this generally happens when i'm sitting at a table with many people around. when i'm alone i havent seen this happen much. does anybody have any idea. i want to eat and dont want this to go on for a long time.

PS. i've always been a very self conscious person. but this has started happening very recently.

You have food anxiety. Go get some counseling and some anti anxiety meds and you will be fine. Other than that gain wieght skinny! You are unhealthy and your body is mad at you for not eating.

anixety, see your gp for medication or counselling, its your decison if you want either, i hate eating out too as meals are always too much for me in any restraunt.

Well , I think you are just in love !

you'rer 5'6 and you're 108 pounds? wow, good for you. that's not verrrry underweight. you have an unusual case because most of time people imagine themselves getting fatter and fatter. the only thing i can tell you is that people aren't obsessed with what YOU eat. you're most likely the only person who even notices what you eat. I think your problem is you think everyones watching you and judging you. If it's your family then they're obviously not going to judge you. If someone else does then they have their own insecurity problem. Start to think positive. Eat healthy. You can still have desserts just eat them in moderation. Stop thinking about it so much - because if you do end up with an eating disorder, it really affects your life. I had a friend who went through anorexia and it's really sad seeing her be so upset everyday.

I think you might have a phobia. It is not necessarily an eating disorder since you can eat alone.
