Girlfriend has an eating disorder?

My Girlfriend is Bulimic and she has been for many years.
My question is...Does having bulimia cause you to be tired all the time? She is tired all the time and it doesn't matter how much she sleeps she is tired anyway, could her being Bulimic be causing all this tiredness?

Any suggestion as to what type of help to get her? I don't know much about this disease and could use some advice.

Thanks so much for all your help!

Bulimia is a devastating disease. Yes having this eating disorder can cause you to be tired all the time. It also effects many other parts of your body. Since she has been purging for many years, i sugguest taking her to a doctor. she could of done some serious damage. then her doctor will probably sugguest therapy. always be there for her and remind her that recovery is possible even if shes been like this for years.

hope all goes well!

Yes, bulimia causes tiredness, every time your girlfriend eats and then throws up she is loosing all nutrients and electrolytes. This is very serious as she could die. Try to get her to a Dr. for help!!!! NOW!!!!

It could very well be causing her to be fatigued because she is not getting any of the nutrients from the food.

Yes it will cause tiredness. Food is what gives us energy, and purging removes the food from her stomach, causing her metabolism to slow down and she is tired.

Be supportive of her and help her to get help if she wants it. You won't be able to force help on someone that doesn't want it though. Try to be supportive without being pushy to the point it damages your friendship.

Bulemia is terrible!!! Ask your girlfriend why she throws up. If she says it's because she doesn't want to be fat, tell her you like/love her just the way she is.

yes it can lack of food cause there to be no energy and thats not good
usally people with this kinda people thend to do it because theyve lost control so much with there life to them something such as bulimia its the only thing they feel they have control over when its not she probly has told you time to time shes not going to do it anymore but if shes been like this for many years its more easyer for her to tell you that just to get you off her back a problem like this causes the person to have no control over anything anymore to her she feels its a way out but its not its away to death and her tiredness is more beond her being tired anymore depending on how skinny she is and if she even eats at all you cant just tell her oh you need some help cause i promis shell say i dont need it i got this under control if she dont want the help you need to bring the help to her if possible i recomend you get her some help ASAP cuz who knows what can happen in the next few days she needs some help fast i dont know how bad she is but a problem like this most of the time there is no cure if its to late plzz get her some help she really needs it
