I'm worried I might be developing an eating disorder...?

For the past few months I have been stressing really badly about what I eat.

Usually I'll eat breakfast, like a bowl of cereal and then wont eat again till dinner.
And then if I do eat alot in one day, like today for instance I ate:
Cereal
A packet of Lollies
A bread roll
Chicken Biscuits
And Pizza
I feel terrible... I try to make myself throw up but I cant.. so I have given up on that.

I do alot of exercise, as I am a cheerleader and I do over 100 situps a day..

Alot of people have told me I have lost heaps of weight and look way skinnier then I did, but I still think I look the exact same.

Im worried... does anyone have any advice.
And please dont just be judgmental and say mean things, because seriously thats just going to make me feel worse about myself.

Hi :)
well first of all.. if u feel guilty and want to throw up because you ate cereal, lollies, a bread roll, chiken biscuits and pizza u might indeed have an eating disorder
now the first step for curing any disease or malfunctionality is accepting u have it
It is better to accept it so that u can look for ways to treat it than to deny it, because that way you'll always think u are ok and that u dont need to do anything about it.. so if u do have a little (or big) problem (which I think u do) accept it, but not to the take-me-to-the-hospital way, but to look for personal ways of improving your current state.. i believe u can still fix this on ur own

Wanting to keep in shape is good.. it's healthy; but getting to the point of purging urself is not "keeping in shape".. that's superficial obsession and that's not nice.. ur taking health to another level in which u are hurting urself.. thus, with all the workout cheerleaders do, i dont think you are out of shape ;).. remember that people like u for the way u are and they turn to look at u for the way u look... i dont know 'bout u but i rather people liking me than looking at me

The body does thousands of complex processes that need a lot of all the nutrients (carbs, fat, proteins, minerals, etc) and if u get to eat some of them they will be used.. and every slice of food has this nutrients.. it's not like all the food is only fat.. u need all of the other nutrients

U can fix this on ur own, but i think it's stupid to do so.. talk to your family and friends honestly and tell them how u feel.. dont be ashamed of them thinking wrong about u

Good luck :)

PLEASE DONT MAKE YOUR SELF THROW UP ........THAT HURTS MY HEART TO HEAR...........AND I DONT EVEN KNOW YOU!!!!!!!...............ONE OF MY BEST FRIEND IN HIGH SCHOOL DONE THAT ALL THE TIME AND KNOW SHE LOOKS REALLY OLD FOR THE STRESS, THAT IT PUT ON YOUR BODY............BUT SHE IS REALLY SKINNEY,,,,,,,,,BUT SHE IS 30 AND LOOK 45..............

You need to talk to your parents about this. You don't want to get sicker. You need to eat lots of healthy food in order to stay healthy looking and have the energy for your cheerleading. Just stay active and don't worry so much as how much you are eating but EAT WOMAN :) There is so much pressure on young girls and their bodies and really just exercise eat lots of fruits, vegetables, and stay away from high fatty foods and you'll be fine. You are young and have a high metabolism so make sure you eat especially breakfast even if it's an orange. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.... Good luck!!

Hey there, it's Marcus from your myspace page. I know what you mean about the eating disorder, my daughter Shelly is going through the same thing. And I read what other people gave you for an answer. I just want you to know that you will get better. Sometimes we just go through "sick" periods like that. If it was me, I would try NOT eating for a couple of days, and start back on soft foods like soup and stuff. Then gradually get back to a healthy diet (balanced). Your body seems to be crying out for something you are not getting. If you do go to a doctor about it, maybe they can run a blood test to determine what is missing. Then you will know for sure. Hope you get well soon.....
Marcus

I advise you to see your GP first or find a councellor because tbh this doesnt sound to good.

Body dismorphia disorder is much more common than people think - just most people who have it don't talk about it. You've noticed that you may have a problem, or be on a destructive path of thought - that's a good first step. I think you should see a doctor (preferably one you get on well with) and tell them that you are concerned. Can any of the sports people at your college help you, maybe?

Remember that when you are exercising your body needs more food just to maintain a healthy weight - what you wrote you ate today doesn't sound like tons in my opinion.

I hope you manage to get some help before you let your concerns take over too much.

I went through the exact same thing. If i ate anything over 1000 calories i'd throw it all up - on a normal day i'd try only to eat about 700 calories and always healthy stuff. I would then do about 200 sit ups a day and weight myself constantly. I would suggest going to a doctor because i can relate to your situation and i was diagnosed with an eating disorder. It takes a while to recover - I'm still in recovery but i no longer throw up. I do still watch what i eat but i'm nowhere near as obsessive, so i think you should seek some help because otherwise it turns into a vicious cycle. Don't worry, i know how you feel though about feeling terrible after eating a lot - i used to feel ashamed after eating one biscuit. So please seek help - it really pays off :)

I just took a health class on this so I'm prepared (:D).

1. Convince the person to get help: They may not be aware of the seriousness of the condition.

2. (Depending on age...) Tell an adult: The school councelor, nurse, parents, or another adult must know about the problem so the person will get the help needed.

3. Get proffessional help: A person with an eating disorder has psychological problems and requires proffessional help.

4. Encourage the person to join a support group: It can offer important support and encouragement.

Luckily you're noticing it as it early develops. Follow these steps while you can before it gets serious (assuming it isn't already).

Good luck!
