I want to talk to my guidance counselor about my eating disorder? |
I've been trying myself to recover because I refuse to get professional help, I'm not that bad. My mom has already found out and thinks I'm all better. I keep having these thoughts related to it and I just want someone to talk to that I don't know so I don't feel guilty. I think that would help me alot but I'm very afraid that my school guidance counselor will tell my mom. Can she without my permission, legally wise? Because I'm not hurting myself I just think that if I talk to someone it will help me recover. I live in Wisconsin if that helps legally wise...in case my state declares it's law for her to tell my family. Hi. I understand both what you're going through and also your dislike for getting professional help. Hun, no she should not tell your mom. unless you are hurting your self. If you work with her then the odds might be better. Just go in there and ask her/him what is the giude lines about it and see what they say. Just asking for help shows alot. If you have any questions hun, please feel free to e-mail. hang in there. You need to get professional help you can not do it on your own. I do not think your guidance counselor can tell your mom without your permission unless she thinks you are harming yourself. They will suggest that you tell her because you need to have family support to deal with an eating disorder. Well I went to my Guidence Counselor last week and I told her EVERYTHING!! things I wouldn't even tell my closest friends! well any way I told her that it has been a week since I have done it and that I was completely scared off from it for good. She was my former volleyball coach so we were pretty close from before. anyway she said that she was convinced that I wouldn't do It again, so she said she wouldn't call my parents. Unfortunately she saw me next period at lunch and saw that I wasn't eating... She called me down the last period of school and said that she was gonna call my mom, but I could be in there if I wanted. When I got home I denied everything to my mom and said I just did it to get out of class. My mom believed me. So long story short if she does tell your parents, you can just lie. I hope this helps! GOOD LUCK! |
