Help me beat an eating disorder.?

I have been fighting over eating and the urge to eat when I am not hungry for 3 years. For the first 2 years it was ok because I was in a cross country team and I was built. Now it has taken a toll on my health alot. I have a high blood pressure and struggle to keep up with my weight. I know its all about eating less and excersising. But these days its making me extremely depressed. I have other phycological issues but my phycologists won't really help with it. Can someone here help me with it.

I don't really think its all about eating LESS. Its just about eating smaller amounts more times a day, and making sure that whatever you're eating is healthy.

If you ate 6 twinkies a day, that wouldn't be good. (I'm not saying you do, I'm just being hypothectical here :) ) But, if you ate 3 good healthy meals, and then 3 healthy snacks in between, (especially fruits and raw veggies), that would fulfill your cravings and help you lose weight as well as helping you become healthier.

Being healthy is 85% diet, 10% exercising, 5% genes.

Instead of picking up a Ben&Jerry's carton of ice cream, grab an apple, some carrots and celery, or some yogurt. You'd be amazed at how your depression will disappear when you start eating better. This doesn't mean you can't treat yourself to a nice dessert every once in a while, either; just don't make it every meal!

Good luck. Remember, the first step to overcoming it is asking for help.

Why don't you do cross-country anymore? Or find something like it that you enjoy? You can eat a ton if you burn the calories off. Also, having an activity that you care about again might help with the depression. I've recently taken some time off training and it's made me have some of the same issues you're having. Pick a whole bunch of things that you might like doing- anything from salsa dancing to ice carving, and write them all down on slips of paper. Put the slips of paper in a hat or box, and pull one out each week. Keep going until you find something you want to do regularly, or you can even keep doing the hat thing and trying different things.

How do you feel about pets? Maybe if you got a dog that you could play with outside, you'd burn up some calories and have a new friend.

I think a lot of people are depressed because they don't have something they feel really passionate about doing, and so they feel like life is pointless. You just have to give yourself something to care about.

If you can't beat an eating disorder for yourself, what makes you think you can beat it because of what other people say?
