Eating Disorder Relapse.... Should I Tell My Friend?

am a recovering anorexic and am doing much better. However. I have had a few relapses lately and one of my friends is starting to notice. She does not know about my past but keeps telling me I need to eat becasue I am too thin. We have been friends for about 5 months. I feel comfortable around her and all. But my question is should I tell her about my past eating issues? She has already mentioned anorexia to me before and I keep changing the subject. I think she already knows. If you think I should tell her, any ideas how?

In a way I feel I should tell her becasue I am afraid of losing her as a friend. But on the other hand I am not sure how she will take the news. She may decide I am too complicated to be friends with and ditch me. This is why I am asking for advice. I have lost friends in the past when they found out I was anorexic and I do not want to go thought that again, but I am afraid what will happen if I tell her and what will happen if I dont. Please help

Another issue I have is when I tell her who do I do it? We work together and dont really have much time alone. We are care givers for developmentally disabled adults and are not alone much. And we dont really hang out outside of work. So this is another reason I am questioning what I should do.

Yes: tell her. She probably already knows. If she has mentioned it, she's indicating that she is prepared to listen and be supportive. You both work in jobs that involve caring for people, so she obviously does care about people in general. And she does seem to care about you. And the thing you need most right now if you are having a relapse is supportive friends.

Why don't you invite her for a cup of coffee after work one day and get to know her better?

Edit: Maybe that's a really stupid idea. Maybe inviting her to a place of eating and drinking isn't the ideal solution for you. Sorry I'm an idiot.

But is there something you could do together to get to know each other better?

You already suspect that she knows, so let it out. Once you do that, it gives her the go ahead to be supportive, and that's what you need. I suspect you have already gone through some sort of rehab . So you know the answer to your own question, you need a support system. And you need to start building it now! Don't wait until you are under nourished and dying from kidney failure!

yes you should be truthful dont beat yourself up talking about it helps iam rcecoving from a drinking problem this helps me by talking we are all human dont give up

Tell her if a time comes up that you think is right. My best friend is having a relapse from high school, she is 30 now, and I can see it but she won't admit it....admitting it someone is the first step. Who knows maybe this person has had some experiences with another friend or even herself. If you don't hang out out of work anyway, nothing to lose eh.
