Eating disorder relapse?? HELp!!? |
okay i was anorexic two years ago but i went to therapy(never a inpatient though) and went into recovery. I went away to college and was feeling really good so i didn't really keep up with the sessions. and now i am under alot of stress from school and i think i'm relapsing. i eat an apple and a cup of black cofee for breakfast no lunch or maybe another apple ocassionaly a salad with no dressing then have maybe a sugar free jello or a salad with lettuce and cucumber but no dressing for dinner. if i really need to i have rice cakes. i realise this is not enough food so i have been trying to stop the urge to exercise but i have been doing at least 200 abs and pushups a day. i really don't want to relapse because i hated therapy and everyone consatntly watching me to see if i ate. does this seem like i am in trouble and what should i do???? i've been in the same shoes; only you can answer this question hun... and if you even have to ask it then more than likely the answer is yes. if you are restricting what you eat, and then exercising on top of it all to gain that sense of control then yes you have relapsed. you should seek help now before it spirals out of control; and you will have lost the one thing you so despirately crave.... control. Well, it seems to me your on that road again...but this time you noticed it quickly, which is a good thing, so try to stop and eat more, and maybe you can turn it around before it is too late. Well if you dont want to go into therapy then eat, dont worry, the world wont come crashing down if you eat more than 500 calories. You have relapsed. Um...couldn't you just EAT? do something that plaeses you, it'll help to relax and take some herb tea to calm down or novo-passit. I eat a lot when I'm nervous, a lot of people do so. what you need to do is learn to enjoy food. eat tasty things, go to cafe if you can, try different kinds of meals, spanish, japanese, so on. I wish I was loosing appetite from stress... just relax, it helps to me gain controll over me when I'm reading something interesting. try may be this or something else you like. you just need to find another compensation for stress, other then food and exercise. like shopping, or some hobby. try something creative, it helps. I know what you are going through (been through it ... a few times), and yes, I would say that you are in trouble! You should tell your parents as soon as possible (before you lose your nerve or you just let your addiction take over). Find out if your campus or somewhere in the area has group therapy (that way, you won't have all the attention on you). That, or find a new therapist that's in your area. It's okay to "shop around" for therapists too. It doesn't have to be too painful of an experience to talk to someone--just have to find someone good to talk to. Stop and consider : 'Do I want to spend the rest of my life like this?'. I am almost 33 and still battling to keep the illness away after my worst point came at 18. You know what you are doing is unhealthy and dangerous...if your studies are important to you, you will realise that not eating will just make it worse...how do you expect your brain to be functioning well when you aren't feeding it? |
