Doctors, psychologists etc, eating disorders? |
everyone thinks i have an eating disorder and i guess when i think about it logically maybe i do. I barely ever eat and avoid people eat dinner times. My consellor is sure i have one and has begged me to see a doctor many times, but the problem is... Find someone to talk to about it. Someone you can really trust. And if your disorder is seriously bad (like if you are losing weight rapidly and it is threatening your life) then you really should seek therapy! you seem pretty smart. jesus christ ur mom needs to grow up... seeing a doc a lableling u with an eating disorder isnt gonna affect ur job situation or anything... those are closed confidential documents ... ur gonna have to start eating whether u like it or not... society has put it in our heads wat we need to look like back in kings and queens days way way back... being a lil hefty was the in thing... be happy with being u ... u can still look good and eat right... btw eating disorders can kill u... cause ur hair to fall out and alll sorts of unatractive things so i suggest eating a lil more than normal everynight to get over this eating disorder... i had eating disorders a few times through out life... now i cant feel my pinky because i have shocked my nervous system so much from all the crap ive done to my body... i suggest u stop I am not a doctor or psychologist, but not getting help, may affect your future in a negative way. As long as you're not very underweight, they wont force you to do anything. They will set up a diet plan for you, weight you from time to time to make sure you're weight is on the right way, and maybe take some blood tests and other tests. They will also listen to you, and it is important that you're honest with them, and tell them everything that's on your mind. They may suggest different treatment methods for you, but they wont force you to do anything (unless you're very underweight). Their first priority is to help you, and make you have a healthy relationship to food, without taking any freedom away from you. Their goal is to make you healthy, both in body and mind, so you can have a great future, without concerning about weight and appearance in a way that may hurt you. I am sorry you are going through all this. If you went to a doctor, they would probably refer you to a health specialist who would help you out with a special diet plan to get you back on track. You may also be referred to a counsellor who you can talk to about the causes of your eating disorder and they will help you to overcome the problems and move on from it. I agree that your mum would be of great support to you as she has gone through the same thing as you but maybe she doesn't feel comfortable about it either and perhaps she could talk to someone too; maybe you could try and go together? As for labelling you a nutter and ruining your future - that is utter nonsense!!! of course it won't; for a start, no employer would ever know your medical background unless you tell them and no doctor would ever label anyone as a nutter - they are there to help!! good luck! You should go to the doctors they can help you overcome the eating disorder maybe you mum is just afraid of talking about any eating disorder you may have!i dont know much about it really but it is important to have a healthy relationship with food! No, going to a doctor or mental health worker will not make you a nut. They're there to help. Your mom might be aware of what's wrong with you and doesn't want to face it. If that's the case it's probably because she had anorexia herself. Not talking to you about your eating problem (and hers) is probably having more of a negative effect on your situation. Whatever issues are causing your eating disorder, you need to tackle them. Not dealing with them will only make things worse for you. Never be afraid or ashamed to seek help. Shop around for a counselor whose methods work for you. |
